Exemption Policy

For a year-long class, students may be exempt from examination 2nd semester only. Students who are enrolled in a semester course may be exempt from examination at the end of the semester that the class met. Exemption is a PRIVILEGE that students earn. All exemptions are based on a student's semester average and attendance. In some courses, examination exemption is not allowed as stated in the course syllabus.

Criteria for exemption from examinations:
  • All absences must be excused, official and college days do not count against a student's exemption
  • A average - no more than two (2) absences and no more than three (1) office referral

Vocational
Students who exceed the state average on the CPAS will be exempt from the end of year exam.

Exams count as 15% of the semester grade. Students who are exempt may opt to take the exam for additional credit.

NOTE:
Three (3) tardies equal one (1) unexcused absence.

Students who have been in ISS or suspended are not exempt.

ALL ABSENCES MUST BE VERIFIED AS EXCUSED WITHIN 2 DAYS OF THE DAY ABSENT. THE ONLY ABSENCES THAT DO NOT COUNT AGAINST EXEMPTIONS ARE SCHOOL RELATED OR OFFICIAL ABSENCES.
