Forms and Policies


1. The Library opens at 7:45 a.m. and closes at 3:30 p.m.

2. Each student will need a LIBRARY PERMIT and a SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT to enter the library. The library is open during lunch.

3. No food or drink is allowed in the Library Media Center.

4. The Meridian Star is available for use in the library. Back issues may be requested at the circulation desk.

5. The library catalog is accessed by computer on-line.

6. Books are checked out for 2 weeks and may be renewed. The fine for a lost or damaged book is the cost of the book.

7. Place books used in the library on a book cart. Do not reshelve.

8. PLEASE, leave the work area clean. Place chairs under tables and throw thrash away as you leave.

9. Internet access is for educational purposes only. See the copy of the INTERNET USER'S AGREEMENT you signed at registration. A copy is included in the VANGUARD and is on the MPSD website. NO GAMES, NO INSTANT MESSAGING, NO LYRICS.

10. Students are encouraged to bring a jump drive to the library or save to google docs to save files.



1. The Library Media Center uses an open, flexible calendar. Teachers may schedule in advance to use the library for orientation and research.

2. Teachers may arrange for extended hours for students to use the library when projects or research papers are assigned.

3. A teacher may send THREE students on ONE library pass to use the computers and library collection for research and projects.

4. The library is OPEN BEFORE SCHOOL and DURING ALL LUNCHES for the convenience of teachers and students.

5. RESERVE MATERIALS: Teachers may place books from their required reading list on RESERVE. Students may request the book at the circulation desk.

6. MAGNOLIA, a collection of research databases, is accessible along with other websites on the MHS Home Page.
