Dr. Taylor's Blog - On a Positive Note...
Parents and Members of the Community,
I want to thank everyone for such a great start to this school year! I appreciate your focus on our four goals.
As you may already know, the Mississippi Department of Education released data regarding our MCT2 and SATP scores from the 2011-12 school year. The Meridian Public School District showed growth in every single test subject area and grade level except sixth grade math which stayed the same!
I am eagerly awaiting the release of our QDI scores and accountability labels/grades which will further prove what a successful year we had in 2011-12. I expect this public release to be made in mid-September.
With the release of the QDI scores and accountability labels/grades, we will release the teacher incentive winners. The teacher incentives are monetary incentives for teachers that were able to move their students forward showing significant growth on the state test from the 2010-11 school year to the 2011-12 school year. These incentives will be paid from the Phil Hardin Foundation and Federal Programs via the MPSD Teacher University. The teachers that receive the incentives, our top teachers, will provide ideas and training to other teachers through the MPSD Teacher University.
I appreciate the hard work from administrators, teachers, and students and the support from parents and community members, and I know that we will be even more successful this year.
I can’t wait to see the results from our first common assessment of the 2012-13 school year, so that I can share our continued progress with you.
